I am amazed on the number of people walking around town in shorts...... I must be a big Jessie:D

They're all eskimos on holiday.
The temperature here is positively balmy for them :-)

Seen loads of these types today. They are not the full shilling.

Relax, I've noticed this too. I went out about 6.30 last night and it was freezing. Literally. My car had a skin of frost forming on it, and I could feel the ground getting slight slippery when I got to the library car park. A couple - probably in their 60s - were standing chatting, both dressed in T shirts and shorts...and they both appeared to be sober!

Up 'ere we don't usually dress up until the end of January when it actually gets cold..

That is uncanny as I, too, have noticed that while walking through Folkestone town centre earlier on today, yes it was actually quite sunny but it was also quite cold. Maybe they are Glaswegians on a weekend trip?

It was in Hythe that I noticed it so not a million miles away @iandj

Our local postman has not worn long trousers for over 3 years whilst delivering post. It started as a contest to see who could were shorts for the longest time without a brake. But now seams to be the norm.

My usual postie doesn't wear shorts, but there is a replacement who delivers on occasion and that one does wear shorts. Oh, and dark glasses as well. I blame American tv shows ............

I seem to remember having to wear shorts to school until I was about eleven. I don't remember feeling especially cold, we still wore jumpers, coats and scarves in winter and long socks and the shorts weren't a problem with the weather, feeling a prat was though! :D

If I was the only person alive - I'd wear shorts all the time. ;)

I'm still wearing shorts!! Comfy and if I get cold the heaters in the car aimed at my feet warm up the cockles!!

OP you lived in Newcastle not so long ago them up there only ever where shorts

Got one like that here. His hair, moustache and beard are styled on Wild Bill Hickock. He also has a brass bolt through his nose !!

It was 3 deg C (so not actually freezing) the other day, when I popped into the town centre. Everybody was well layered up with coats, hats, scarves and gloves. Then I caught sight of this guy dressed in a short sleeved shirt, khaki shorts to just below the knee, flip-flops and no socks. Mind you, he did have a camera slung over his shoulder so perhaps he was on holiday. Madness!

On holiday, on the beach is the only time I would dream of inflicting my SFHLs on an unsuspecting public. One of our posties is a shorts wearer but he spends most of his time hopping in and out of the van, t'other does shorts in summer but has more sense than to wear them at this time of year!

I have just been out in my shorts, but I was on my way to the gym.

Hmm. I often wear shorts around the house and over weekends in summer, but that's in another country where it's + 20C.

I think it's odd at this time of year and early spring when you see people wearing shorts and a winter coat - Make your mind up, is it warm or cold!!

Personally, I think the wearing of shorts should be a crime with the fine proportional to the waistband size.

Steve.
