Hi All

Anyone just watch the superb "Short Stay in Switzerland" on BBC just now...? What a fabulous one off drama that was, quite simply it was British TV at it's very best. Julie Walters... well, what an actress, she is the best. Liz White (Life on Mars) also put in a great performance.

Have to say that was a fantastic 1 hour 30 mins viewing, we were all sat here gobsmacked.

Gritty stuff, superbly presented, very well handled. Well done the beeb.

Yeah, i just saw that too! God it was emotional...me and my sister were both very blotchy-faced afterwards! Really excellently done and tackling a very controversial subject. Julie Walters is amazing

I never saw the show but I have to agree Julie Walters is a superb actress.

Honestly hepburn, you should try to catch it on BBC iPlayer, it is well worth watching.

I caught the ending, and as it's based on a true life story I can't help but think how far removed it is from a dignified end. It must've been horrible to be in that room.

And yes she is a great actress. This was great although she'll never top being Adrian Mole's mum (ok that was a joke)

Hmm to her though it was a more dignified end than what would have happened had she stayed alive and let her illness destroy her more and more...

I kind of watched it with my other half, and although it's not my kind of thing, Julie Walters was superb as always. Getting something like that is one of my biggest fears in life, my body shutting down while my mind is perfectly OK. I agree with HanC, as horrible as it must have been to be in that room at the end of her life, it was better than the alternative.
