Hey guys,

I'm thinking of taking the missus away for our 1st year wedding anniversary in Sept. I'm thinking of somewhere in the UK, not too expensive as we're going on a ski trip early next year.

we're both in our mid 20's, looking for somewhere we can relax, but where there is still plenty to see/do. looking for 2 or 3 night break.

Just wondered if any TPers had been anywhere that they could recommend to take a look at, and any good value accommodation, etc?

 cheers in advance!

Weymouth.
Might be a tad far for you, but it's a lovely place. Oh and plenty of photo ops there :D

If you want to visit north cornwall my sister runs a holiday home management firm that could sort you right out ;)

Hire a canal boat/motorhome....

Cotswolds or Lake District - good balance of beautiful surroundings and moochable towns

north norfolk? - Plenty to see and do up there, including many landscape opportunities...(I am a tad biased on that one!)

southwold? - Picteresque, top notch fish and chips on the harbour and a pint of Adnams

teesside? - had a week up there in September - very nice.

Guess it depends what you both like doing (other than you liking photography........)

Cambridge...

Good food (Jamies Italian plus other good places), nice old pubs and some modern bars, VERY picturesque, decent shopping too.

Chester? Good touristy city, Chester Zoo close by for a nice day out and great shopping!

I'm not one for holidaying in the UK, but I would be inclined to try somewhere like North Wales, the Lake District, or Edinburgh. Maybe Brighton, Hastings, or Rye on the south coast. However, pricewise, now that's a different story. Often it's cheaper to fly abroad than stay here.

Lake District is a good one. Use Windermere area as a base where there's plenty to do but gives easy access to rest of the lakes.

Falmouth down in Cornwall is good too. Great place, really vibrant with lots to do neaby

Just got back from a 2 night break in Linton in the Yorkshire Dales. Nice and quiet and lovely walks...

Would have to suggest either Lake District or Cornwall, but there's tons of nice places to go!

York , beautiful city, it's worth the trip up the M1 just to stare up at the ceiling in York Minster, we've had some great weekends in York

I went up to Inverness last year, lovely part of the world and Loch Ness etc etc, absolutely stunning scenery, just stayed in a travel lodge so not to expensive :)

We toured Northumbria last year, beautiful area, lots to do and countless photo ops;)

Hire a canal boat/motorhome....

I went away on a boat on The Broads last week and really enjoyed it despite the cold. The very cold, cold:eek: There's loads to photograph and pubs to moor up at for food and drink.

Hey Guys! all I can say is Wow! i'd not checked this thread since last week when i posted and didn't expect this many replies!

:thankyou:

I'm going to look into all of these ideas, they all sound great! We're spoilt for choice now ;)

lake districts?

Tenby's quite niiiiice :)

Another vote for the Lake District.

I've stayed in Bowness on Windermere and in Keswick and I would say Keswick is probably your best bet as its a larger town.
