Don't know if any one has sussed out the new Lightroom 3 Beta 2, but if you shoot tethered, it now has a direct import from Lightroom No need to go via DPP or other software.

OK it only supports certain Canon and Nikon cameras ( Fortunately all mine), this plus the new print module makes the upgrade worthwhile for me

LOVE, I was having issues with eos utility going away whenever the camera becomes unplugged

downloading and trialing now :p
 
Works with my 30D too even though it is not listed.

Yeah it has a few bugs in it, how do you report it to adobe?

I have two third party things for tethered (school photos software and eos) and it is getting confused by them both.

Have disabled both 3rd party software but still goes a little nuts.

I am sure it will be fine come release day.
 
working again now

for some reason I can't pull files from the camera that I took when it wasn't tethered, playing with that now

works much nicer than eos utility for events

It will only download those images shot whilst tethered. All other images have to be downloaded " the old way"
 
Does it shoot tethered the same way as the regular Nikon software?

That is, you take the shot, it sends it down the USB cable and saves it on the PC only? Or does it monitor the contents of the memory card inside your camera and copy the files to the PC so that they're stored on both, like the DIY Photo Bits software?
 
I have only used tethered with my D200 which is not on the list but my D700 is. Might be a useful additional function.
 
I've tried it with the D3s, and it sticks it on the card as well as lappy. Seems a tad clunky, as it stopped working at one point then just started again, but I think this is why it's Beta. If you've got the time, there's some interesting stuff on the Adobe forum about peoples experiences with it.
 
Might have to give it a go if it saves to both then. It's a pain having to collate images from memory cards and tethered laptops (that often want to rename the files as it saves them).

Usually if I'm shooting tethered, it's on an important shoot just to make sure everything's in focus that should be, more easily see unwanted reflections and spill, but those images get nuked off the laptop at the end of the shoot, and everything gets copied over from the card to the main editing PC.
