connect the camera by usb to the laptop and startup canons EOS utility... I think it should work from there, and you'll want to check the settings to see where it saves to etc

Smashing thank you.. Save the wife saying can I have a look at every shot haha.

Ah, good. I wasn't 100% on it, its been that long since I used it last.

You might want to try Lightroom3 if you shoot in RAW. :)

Great software to process files and also support tethered shooting. There is 30 day trial available online.

I just tried this on my laptop. It's great!! I had no idea until today that the eos utility offered this.

Ive just bought a backdrop setup and the wife wanted some high gain photos of the lad. so rather then take them and her saying can I have a look after every shot I just got a really long cable and made her sit at the bottom of the garden well away from me haha.

hi rob,

do you tether with you 1d mkii?

does it work with lr3 on 64bit?

thanks:thumbs:

I havent actually used LR with my 1D as i dont have the correct firewire cable to connect to my laptop..but ive used it with my 30D and it was fine..so i cant see you having any problems..1d mkii is listed as compatible i believe ;)
