Shooting snooker cues, part 2 of 2 - This job involved photographing a few hundred snooker cues.

Once the main shot has caught the prospective customer’s eye they need to have other, detailed photos that are closeups of specific, important parts. So, in a perfect world we would change the lighting every single time we changed the camera position for one of these detail shots – but that’s extremely expensive in time and it’s usually possible to manage the detail shots without re-arranging the lighting. I'm struggling with a 3/4 cue shot which needs to have a white background, any tips on getting it right? I'm using a Lencarta strip soft box to get the highlight on the cue that you can see but thinking maybe I need another one the other side?

Did you read part 1 as well as part 2? I didn't even attempt it with a single light because it obviously couldn't work, but you'd get SOME kind of effect if you fitted a reflector instead of a second strip softbox . . .

I'm guessing that a cut-out would be the best way of getting a white background, if that's what you want.
