Yes
I dont do weddings, as a rule, but a friend has asked me. So, for some reason, I said yes!

Does the feeling of "oh god, something is going to go wrong" ever go away? This is only my 3rd and each time I have the same feeling. Just so much going on that could go tits up and make life hell. I am not worried about my abilities to take the photos, it is just my ability to get the photos I need if things aren't going to plan :p

I REALLY do have to stop saying yes to friends and relatives :nono:

I feel your pain - i'm doing my sisters on monday , and all along they've been saying they dont want group shots, just a relaxed candid reportage shoot - with three days to go they have just told me 'actually they do want group shots' - but of course they havent got a shot list or anything... :bang:

at least its a friends wedding where you'll know people and it should be a more relaxed atmosphere for you.

I did my first wedding for a friend last month. Right up until I started shooting I had that "oh god, something is going to go wrong" and felt so sick with nervous, but as soon as I started taking photos it's like all the worry and angst just disappeared! And the shots turned out really well, some of them extremely well (even if I do say so myself).

Good luck, hope it all goes well for you.

I have only done one but the feeling went away when I got home made another backup of the images and saw that I actually had a lot of very usable shots.

I have another comming up in a month or so, I started of as a guest with camera and had decided to take the just the 50mm 1.8 then became can you take some shots as the brides mother is not confident in the genuine uncle shooting now I'm the official with the uncle being relegated. Lucky me, another wedding I doubt I will get the chance to enjoy

ouch, my friend was very organised and had a list of groups they wanted etc and sadly this was the only bit that didn't go to plan as we just ran out of time to do the smaller groups so it ended as a larger group shot.

On one had yes, but knowing people there sometimes seems to mean it harder to get them to do what you want. Not this time though, they were all very well behaved :)

Having a quick look at what I got I seem to have got plenty I am really happy with :) so it's all good. Still pretty frantic at times though! but guess that is always going to be the case.

DOOOMED. DOOOMED i tell ya.
How did it go?

haha! It went well, had forgotten how knackering it is though, especially with a 2 hours journey there and back :|

Ouch, unlucky. I am going to another mates wedding this weekend, and am taking my camera, but no way am I being bumped up to anything more than a guest :p (hopefully!)

i'm confused. The thread title says you are doing the wedding in 18 months. Was the 2 hour journey in a delorean to the future ?

Perhaps he meant he hadn't shot a wedding FOR 18 months

Title should be:

Shooting a wedding tomorrow my first in 18 months...
