I wanna go take some photos of the Lotus, and perhaps combine with some landscape and long exposure nonsense.

My idea is this:

A straight on view of the BACK of the car (I think it looks ace), the red lights on, and then a dramatic landscape / seascape around it.

Any tips appreciated, do I use flash? Am I wrong to go for the BACK only look? Are there better angles?

Any advice appreciated!

On a related note. I remember in an episode of top gear they raced cars along a beach. I wonder if a rear wheel drive car will cope on a wet reflective shore? Sounds a bit risky! :D

Perhaps on a section of your favourite road with a view of the road?

Example of what I mean (**** pic but was before I really knew how to use my camera!)

If you go down the long exposure route, you could go round the car and set your flash off with the test button (or an Ebay trigger so you can adjust the output) and light specific parts of the car

Yeah, and get it detailed first. I have seen the state of it! Seroiusly though, the camera will pick up all the dirt and any road film will dull the reflections of the glorious sunset!

It would have looked nice sat in the middle of the road porn shot you goton Highlands v1.0 (on skye)

Quarry might look nice too, but a bit cliched. Plenty of small ones kicking around by the side of the road in the highlands as i remember.

Finally, dont discount moody, manky weather. The car will look seriously orange against the dull green and grey and brown Scottish landscape and if the car has been recently polished the water adds some extra detail.

Just some thoughts.

Oh, and you might want to crack out that polariser you hate so much too.

Renclio of this forum detailed it for me recently, absolutely stunning job he did too! Looking forward to his return visit, he has massive talent.

I was thinking the exact same thing about that road Gandhi. An excuse for a Highlands Road trip ? :D

Those pics of the Suzuki by DD in the link (post #13) are a wonderful example of what you can do with a car, a field, and a some flash.

We will be expecting great things of a Lotus, in the highlands, and you armed with more kit than the rest of us put together.

Seriously, I think choose your backdrop first. Maybe a moody sunset/rise, with silhouette mountains, and a few strobes. Prolly a wide lens.

If the light is low enough to open flash it, then if there's two of you working together to can fire off quite a few.
 
As you like the back angle it would make sense to have it at the top of a cliff/end of a valley/pier etc as if it has got to the end of the road and can't go further...

To be fair to you all, I did not actually plan the shoot, therefore I had not checked the thread to refresh my memory with all the advice. I went for a drive to scout around the oil refinery, and ended up shooting quickly as I liked the sky.
