Used to be mainly AV mode but since getting the K-5 I use TAv mode as the ISO performance is so good up to 3200.

Shutter speed on the front wheel
Aperture on the rear wheel.

Auto ISO limited to 1600/3200 depending.

i use a mix of all ! if im in a hurry and i need to take something 'quick' like cars / bikes etc i use shutter p, if im out and about i tend to use AV but i like to have a play and see what the camera things then tend to tweek it using manual myself,

For me, it often depends which mood I am in and which camera I use and the situation, but lately the shooting mode has been Aperture priority and sometimes I use a P mode :-)

Program nearly all the time with auto ISO to give me the minimum shutter speed I need. Dont think it makes any real difference, it's what each individual prefers/gets used to.

Never ever P i hate it. Normally Av but sometimes M or Tv gets used aswell. I try and just let the camera do its thing, its only a tool in the end.

I mainly shoot Av. The exception to this is when shooting flash. On the Pentax I use X and on the 7D I use manual.

The divider between Av and Tv is not absolute though. You can use apperture to control shutter speed and vice versa.

Manual as most of my cameras don't have any alternative. Do sometimes dabble with A on the D90 if I need a quick shot.

I started off using manual on my first dslr, now just use it when i need it. Av is usually my main mode

I go for manual 95% of the time as i want to learn what and why of what i am doing but i have now programed the 3 settings with differnt settings for instances when i am taking pics of moving objects such as the kids and running pooch.
But i have also started using TV when im feeling lazy if taking fast or slow pics.

Errrm whichever is appropriate for the shot?

Easier to say that I never use program mode.

Pretty much always Av but sometimes Tv when I'm looking for a specific type of photo.

I usually shoot in aperture priority with an eye on my histogram so to apply ev compensation if required.
If I'm using flash or any time I need to keep a consecutive number of shots at a consistant exposure then I prefer to use manual mode, again with an eye on the histogram, however I was recently taking photos for a 'stay and play' disabled children's library and found that putting the camera in 'portrait' mode enabled me to work quickly and keep up with everything going on.

I shoot in A about 70% of the time for when I'm generally shooting off a tripod, M 25% of the time when on a tripod and shooting landscapes & want control over the exposure and then S for the last few %.

I have grown fond of sticking the camera in manual mode when in tricky light at parties etc and then put the camera to 1/125th, f/2 or f/2.8 and let the auto ISO do the work!

Mainly manual, as I've found it the best way to learn from my mistakes.

I shoot a lot of football (mixture of action and crowd) so tend to set manual for the action and AV for the crowd shots. I need the control of manual for the action shots as accidental blur looks awful compared to intentional motion blur.

depends what im shooting, If i have time Manual, if it will be a quick shot i normally leave it in AP. most of my shots are close up people shots, natural outdoors or in, so i shoot fast for the surprise look

with onboard flash normally AP or P

Do you guys use the same setting with flash as u do without?

99.95% manual

The vast majority of my shooting is performance in dark environments and the semi modes just don't cut it.

Until yesterday, 99.9% aperture priority. Tried manual yesterday after reading this thread and being surprised at the number ofpeople using manual, I loved it! Will be using manual a lot more from now on.

50% aperture priority, 30% manual, 20% shutter priority. Mainly depends on the subject and whether using flash.

Aperture for me, unless I'm not getting what i want and ill swap to manual

AV for me but might give manual a go now. cheers

Manual mode and manual focus (which my fiance is constantly berating me for ).

AV mainly, P for quick grab type shots

Aperture or manual. I've used "sport" preset a few times for capturing very fast moving things when I couldn't quite get the shutter speed and flash combination right

Av for most general shooting where I'm working quickly, although my thumb is ALWAYS on the EC dial...

For flash I only ever shoot manual.

Studio is manual of course.

Aperture for me too. BTW does anybody ever use the scene modes ? Can you see a day when SLRs will just drop them altogether and consign them to the P&S market ?

They already have dropped them from the top end of the Canon/Nikon ranges.

They assume that lesser models might suit people with the need for such things - together with "full auto" mode.

Yeah it was generally 'all SLRs' I was getting at. My 50D and the new 60D still have them for instance but dropped on the 7D !
