I'm getting to spend most of Sunday in London ahead of a work thing on Monday morning and I'm looking for some ideas for locations to get some shots. I managed to tick off a few bit's like St Paul's and Westminster when I was down a month ago but looking for ideas for Buildings/cityscape shots for this weekend.

Greenwich very photogenic, reachable by photogenic river trip or subway, has the old observatory, maritime museum, not to mention the meridian :-)

Sunday is great for doing the City of London, as in the 'square mile' business district, where the Gherkin, Lloyds Building etc are located. Very quiet in terms of people as the city basically closes on a Sunday, so allows more time to play with architectural shots. Do be aware though that the police/security may question you, but are generally OK as long as you aren't arsy with them, much of it is technically private land and prime terrorist targets, so they do like to keep an eye on who is around, but are very used to photographers hanging around getting all arty ;)

Some dirt cheap all day parking in the square Mile area on a Sunday too.

It's a short distance out of London, but Windsor is very picturesque. Buildings such as the castle, crooked house, and guildhall will keep you busy. Cross the river and you have got Eton College.

It closes on weekends mate not just on a Sunday.

Op do this route. Get off Liverpool Street station and head towards Shoreditch high Street station. From there walk across brick lane till you reach halfway or past the open Bewley place/lbi offices and then right until you reach main road and walk across to old spittlefield market and back onto the main road where you can now head towards the business district

A bit late, but if you go again a few more places that I find are great in London are the Southbank, along the river from Tower Bridge to Waterloo and then across the bridge to Westminster. Richmond is also lovely, but it's a little way out, I think zone 4 or 5, south west. Quite picturesque. I also like Hampstead Heath in north London, Hampstead being quite a pretty part of London and Camden is lively and not too far from Hampstead.

You also have Canary Wharf in east London, very accessible and 10 - 15 minutes from Central London. Lots of tall buildings and in the historic docklands. Greenwich, as someone mentioned before is also great and is about 15 minutes on the DLR from Canary Wharf - the views from the top of Greenwich Park and the Observatory are fantastic - encompassing pretty much all of east London, the O2 and the City. Also worth a mention is the Emirates Air Line - the cable car that runs from Greenwich Peninsula (the O2) to Royal Victoria. I hope you enjoyed your trip!
