Yes
I went to anti gravity yoga last night at the studio where I've shot several pole fit sessions.

They've had the studio redone and have got the neon lighting for blacklighting (is that the right term?)

They've asked me if I want to shoot a session.

I'd love to give it a crack but have absolutely no idea as to how.

Anyone got any ideas?

Are you going to be using just the light that's there? Or wanting to use flash?
If its just the light there can't you grey card and set a white balance. If using flash then what about some gels.
Or are you wanting to use the neon's as back lights and keeping their colour (what colour are they)?

They've changed the studio lights to include ultraviolet strip lights for a glow-in-the-dark/luminescent effect?

Is anti-gravity yoga a form of Acro Yoga - lifting and higher supported stuff? Mrs Nod's studio has a session of that every week but in "normal" light rather than UV. To take some shots under plain black lighting, I would go along for a session and have a play with settings to see what I could get. Any practitioners who are fairly good should be able to hold the postures to reduce subject movement to a camera friendly level, even if it does mean higher ISOs. I would try to get at least some "normal" light in there as well as the black to get the expressions on the yogis'/yoginis' faces...

I'm not quite understanding what you mean. It's a glow in the dark type pole shoot so don't think grey card will work

Yep, that's exactly it

It's a mix of yoga and pilates hanging off silks. And I should have said the session they want me to shoot is a pole fit.

If you're trying to capture the black light effect, it's going to be a very low light scenario.. so fast lens wide open and crank up the ISO as far as you're comfortable.

I think it's a case of try it and see how you get on, but make no promises as to the results!

Low light? I think it's going to be pitch black apart from people glowing haha

Is it possible to do a composite

In what way?

Hmmmmm... As much black light as possible! I would still be tempted by some full spectrum as well unless they want you to capture just the fluorescing areas. Holding pole postures should be good exercise for those able to do so, just like dangling still!

When you go, take a bottle of tonic water. Pour yourself a glass and take it into the studio, then ask someone if the tap water round here normally glows with Cherenkov radiation.. ..

(special effects trick used on K19 Widowmaker)

Ah I see what you mean but I don't think that will work as the girls will be in neon clothing so they glow in the dark

those neon colours may well play havoc with the sensor, blowing the various channels very easily. Its definitely something I'd want to experiment with before making a commitment to shoot if for a fee. Longer exposures at a lower ISO would be worth a go too, sounds like fun though!

It's definitely not a paid thing at the moment. Might get a couple of the classes for free in return.

Are you going to print the pics? Your probably going to get OOG colours for a start.

Probably not. They're just for the girls so most likely, just facebook

And OOG?

out of gamut..

Ah. Not something I come across in football photography!

I'm not so sure - some of the WAG brigade's spry tans are fairly day-glo!!! ;)
