Shooting down the woods

I was hoping to do one as well but it has had to be cancelled. I think you will definitely need flash(s) as I have been trying it out out when walking with my dogs and the light was too variable to get a really well lit shot. Flash and reflector helped. If you can experiment first it might save you some time when you do it for real?
 
You may well have a fairly dappled look to the light coming through the trees, so either look for someplace with even gentle light, of use a flash to fill in - as Kerioak says, flash and reflector would be good - tin foil on a piece of card/hardboard, a sheet or whatever. Fill-flash is pretty easy, just set the flash to underexpose by 1 or 2 thirds of a stop as a starting point and see how it looks.
Well worth looking for locations before if possible as it will give you one less thing to worry about on the day, and make you look so much more professional (I need all the help with that I can get..!)

Cheers guy and girl. I am doing the pictures this Sunday so will not have a chance to check out the location beforehand. Kerioak depending where you are in sussex if you want to meet up for some picture taking give me shout.

I am taking my sb600 and sb800 plus brolly and reflector so hopefully will have enough flash to light the whole place up. Will use them using the camera as the commander so will try out a couple of test shoots with the front flash dialled down a bit and work from there................unless anyone else has any thoughts?
 
Good luck for sunday Kev.. sounds like a great idea.. i wanted to get a model while at my caravan in the yellow fields but theres been a change of plan!! so were not going..

i dont know how the Nikons work but id start at half power at first and adjust where you need to.. or use ETTL and see what it gives you.. you can always just move the flashes closer or further away as needed..
