They'll be back soon enough I'm sure. Let's not forget Mr Ecclestone was stamping his foot about modernising the facilities...
 
Yes thats all about bringing bikes back to Sliverson... MotoGimp and World Sloppy Bikes too!

You are looking at the £5 million.... errrm hang on £38 million (last count but rising) upgrade...

Increasing the run off at Woodcote. If a bike crashes there how it used to be it wouldn't be pretty (Straight into the armco). Although I thought it was widely considered that gravel was better at stopping bikes and riders than tarmac, which is better for cars.
 
it wasnt really the missing stands that was my point.. it was the huge run off, so now you have to shoot even further back..
they will put the stands back, once they finished the run off.
 
Yes its all about the bikes and saftey.

And if the four wheel versions of so called racing had left donnington park alone this would not have happend.
I feel two great racing circuits have been ruined for the sake of nothing.
Donnington is in a right old state, got rid of landmarks that have been there since near the beggining (dunlop bridge) and wrecked a track that was all about bikes.
Should be a good year in bike racing this year too lots to play for.
So if you want ot watch real racing with no team orders and every man for himself watch the moto GP

Says it (well, "motorsport can be dangerous") on just about every single piece of paper that goes near anyone in any way connected to the event. If it doesn't certain MSA stewards will start complaining (others take a slightly more pragmatic approach).

Not many, but it's the same old same old. If WSB and BSB don't "feel" safe there they won't some back until it's changed(hence the chicane was put in a few years back for the bikes). Although I've always found it strange they didn't worry about the lack of run off at Island bend.
 
To be honest, MotoGP and WSB put up with a lot on circuits which have been modified for F1. F1 always wants tarmac'ed run off areas so their precious cars don't suck too much gravel, whereas this fails to slow a bike/rider and can lead to serious impacts with barriers causing really nasty injuries.

Gravel and air fences are needed for bikes OR massive run off areas like you see at Snetterton!
 
It's a tragedy that MotoGP has left Donnington for what must be one of the worlds most boring circuits. I first went to Silverstone in the late 50's and have watched and worked there a number of times since and it's still basically an airfield perri track with no real bends, changes of elevation or scenery. I'm not a great fan of Donnington but at least it has a bit of interest and miles more history than Silverstone. Hopefully MotoGP will return there next year as the only reason it left was because historically there's an agreement that Motorcycle GP's and car one's will be held on different circuits so this year's a bit of c**k up. Brands Hatch now that is a circuit, 128,000 there for World Superbikes a few years ago.

Unlikely, given that Silverstone have just spend £38 mil adding a special "bike section".

Donington is in the dustbin - you'd have to be mad to pick up a circuit thats quite frankly screwed up and not have any proper international money spinners on the calendar.

Brands, love it as I do, is never going to host F1 or MotoGP - maybe WSB will come back eventually, but that looks unlikely with the Silverstone deal done this year.

So regardless of history, the international "big three" will be at Silverstone for at least the forseeable future, no matter what anyone thinks.
 
I suppose F1 was more interesting last season, but MotoGP is the pinnacle of motorsport:)
 
Well, its the old rock and a hard place - not slowing down and hitting a barrier is usually fatal to a rider... whilst a tumble in the gravel can cause broken limbs etc.

In an ideal world you have 1500m of unobstructed smooth tarmac, but that would cause a) complaints b) a lot more sales of 600 f4's :D
