Have a look at the Redsnapper tripods - they're well thought of and more to the point, relatively cheap.![]()
Take this up to 800 or more ... the D5000 has the capability to cope. Then have a look at your results to see where they become unacceptably noisy.... Iso 200 ...

The RHS of the moon as we're looking at it Dawn, has very low surface contrast... meaning it's really hard to pick out features.. in some ways, even more so, when you have the terminator to contrast against.

All these photos are cropped right? How do you maintain the sharpness with them? Are people relying on AF or MF? Thanks
