Brilliant macro and an excellent way to represent the mass thaw that's happening at the mo!

Excellent water drop Lynn! I so want a macro :-)

Thanks. :)
The DOF is really shallow though so I need some practice with it I think!

I put the aperture at the highest number I could get it to Lynn and that incresed the DOF a lot :)

very nice love the flowers gorgeous
Thank you.

Thanks - still a few patches in the garden here but mostly gone now.
The water drop is excellent - love the wintery tones
Thanks.

Thanks - I think I want one too! This one is borrowed but I might get one as they are fun!

I need to do that - I'm used to shooting between f1.4 and f11 - took tonights at f18. You need a lot of extra light though!

The focus on that droplet is wonderful but I think I'd have cropped in a little closer :D
I thought about it but I wanted the frosty plant in it too. I'd like to try more droplet shots at some point.

Just making it in before midnight tonight. Didn't take any shots today and we had a competition round at camera club tonight - saw this shot (though better than this!) and thought 'I'll do that for my 365! But post club chatting and a phone call meant I didn't have much time left so its just a quick one.

Day 24 - Coin

That works Lynn - shot in the bag too (phew!!!) I really like the lighting/exposure and you have the DOF just right too

wont let us see the shot but says site up for maintenance so maybe it will come back later :)

Apologies - the site is down for scheduled maintenance - will be back up in a few hours. It's also on my Flickr but can't find a way of grabbing the link from the phone app.

Yesterdays Pound shot is right on the money indeed !

Yeah, in for a penny, right, Vince?

Works very well - love it, the depth with the top side of the coin showing and the detail.

Great shot Lynn - great details showing

Lighting was quite simple - just bounced flash. Thought afterwards I should have put it on a reflective surface maybe. Or at least dusted lol!

Nice to do a shot of money for some change? :) good focus and nice central with a vignette

Thanks all and I like the money puns!

Not sure if today's shot quite works, but I spent part of the day looking at (and booking!) a holiday for later in the year - and on a wet, cold and very grey day it was nice to be thinking about the sun and warmth.

Day 25 - Holiday thoughts

A nicely composed thought and photo Lynn !
Thanks - but somehow it's just not working for me. Its not 'me' - too set up looking or something and I don't like the light (I tried the light coming in from various angles and wasn't happy with any of them).

But I guess we all have days when the shots just don't work. :(

I see what you mean, it is a bit meh. I think losing the sandals may have helped-

Yeah - this was my first attempt - but then it was too much about the suncream and I wasn't happy with the lighting on the hat... I really wanted *just* sunglasses on a simple background but I don't have any as I wear clip ons and they're not the same!

Poor use of props and lighting - no matter how nice the kit is (back to the 85 for this) - it just won't work. A beach towel without sand and sunshine just isn't a good idea!

Of course while I'm not happy with the shot, I'm very happy about having a holiday to look forward to!

lol can i come? Oh bother it, now I want to book a holiday :)

Prefer the first :)

Great macro shot of the coin, it really picks out all the scratches on the surface, and it is very evenly lit.

I really like the holiday image. You may not have the sun and sand available, but the immediate idea i got was that you were packing to go to the canary islands so I think it works really well. Good use of props and composition.

I like the first one and what I really like is that it makes me smile and think about holidays and fun and SUN!! Very evocative of all of that and of having plans for life after winter! :)

Love the coin shot, great detail and grittiness about it.

I see what youare saying about the holiday shots too, perhaps it's the lighting making the shots look a little "flat"?

It feels good to have it booked! We can look forward to it now which is lovely.

Nice and colourful
Thanks.

Lovely detail on the coin, great detail. Enjoy the holiday, the shot is a good reminder of booking.
Thanks. Booking the holiday was my excitement for the day yesterday and wanted to express that.

Thanks! That was the idea behind it - to be thinking about sun and holidays, what to take etc - so it's not totally failed then! It was such a miserable grey day yesterday - lovely to be making plans to be somewhere warm and sunny.

Thanks - the grittiness is possibly because I forgot to dust... lol!

You're right, I'm not happy with the lighting. I tried the light from different directions but I was just bouncing it off things (walls, ceiling) from the top of the camera. Needed to get it off camera. Or preferably to have taken the shot in natural light. (But didn't take it til about 9pm so that wasn't an option).

If I remember I'll take the same shot on the beach/by the pool in the sunshine!

I have absolutely no idea what to take today...! Hoping inspiration strikes later.

Holiday - I am so jealous!!! I agree the first one is my preference, it is easier to understand the idea behind it if that makes sense!

Thanks.

Today's was the subject of the iPhone shot on day 5 - this time with candle unlit and showing the colours seen when the shade catches the light. Lit mainly from one side to show the colours.

(And yes this was a 'get to 11:30pm and still not sure what to shoot' day - sorry!)

Day 26 - Light and shade

a beautiful shot Lynn :) Love the colours

I really like the tones and colours in the lampshade - you've got a lovely photo of it:). We have something similar, but more blue, that my sister bought us and they look great as they catch the light, don't they?

It is a beautiful shade, very nicely lit here

Like the colours in that Lynn, I've got a similar one here.

Liking the different textures and colours mixing together , nice shot Lynn

That's gorgeous Lynn!

Really liking all the different colours in the glass
Thanks all.

I knew in advance today would be a busy day as had a tight schedule to fit in everything and when there was that rare thing - sun - I shot some roses in the window but with the blinds drawn to soften and diffuse the light. (Which is probably good as using the 85 so I have to actually climb up and stand on the window ledge/back of settee to get the angle!).

I was playing with the processing so have two offerings -
