weekly Shirleyr's 52 ~ 2016 ~ Week 52 ~ Celebration

Like the square crop Shirley.
Very nice.

Square crop is much better, Shirley.
Although as Andy say's up the exposure / or tweak the shadows / highlights, would make a difference I feel.

Nice choice for the theme Shirley. Definitely square crop tops.

Square crop works for me! Good photo.

Hi Shirley

Serene ... works well for the theme, I noticed the graininess but it seems you had good reason to up the ISO.

B&W ... you're one of the few people here who've not simply mono 'd a colour shot. Well done. And yes good crop.

These two items were in the local maritime church and I have permission to take photos and put them on here. The old ships and the flint I believe is more of a fossil found on a local beach. Somewhere in this village I have seen a beautiful fossil in someone's wall but I've forgotton where. The house where I thought it was the owner suggested I take a photo of his mother, she is 97, as I thought that was funny I ended up making them a cup of tea.:)Nefyn1820.jpg Piece of flint found on a local beach.jpg

Lone - Great capture I have heard them in the local woods and seen a hole but never the bird.
Fauna - very vibrant colours and nice sharp detail.
Static - good choice for the theme shame about the conditions
Games - good action shot
serene - right on theme
Black and White - I agree the squarer crop is better
Ancient - it would be nice to see more detail of the fossil on the flint.

Thanks for the reply, I don't think there is an actual fossil, I meant its fossil like.

Hi Shirley, I love those old photos ...they are a permanent reminder of times gone by. I do agree it would be nice to see more detail in the piece of flint.

I thought of putting on a photo of my father in law ...he's 94 :)
Sorry I cannot get closer to the flint, it goes blurred. I feel a theme coming on,'over 90':D

Hi Shirley

My thoughts :)

Serene - Nice to see these in flight, looks a tad grainy on my screen
B&W - Sorted, really like the square crop and OOF edges
Ancient - The photo tells its own story and adds to yours ! the fossil might be worth a macro re shoot ?

Hi Shirley. Excellent choices for the theme - love the old photo best .. my word look at how industrious they were !!!

Not easy to take photographs in museums, so you have to work with that you have.

Nice back story that I always like.

Cheers.

#1 works for me, some impressive ship building going on there. Although #2 is more ancient...

Week 37 ~ Urban ~ Pwllheli Marina, built two years ago.

Hi Shirley. The Marina shot seems to have a colour cast. Not an architectural delight I must say particularly with that bland expanse of concrete stretching across it.

Pwllheli town
Don't like this one either, my friend drove the car so all the town ones have this van in them. If only the theme was Clocks, no, no, I promised I wouldn't say that word again:exit:

Hi Shirley, urban was a difficult one, I actually like your first choice, I think it fits the theme well.

Great find in the fox, I'd love to get a photo of one.
Thanks Susie for your kind words. Your were the first person who helped me in the beginning.

What could be better ? a pair of pears. :)

Pair of Pears

.... nice idea, and in the grass like that with OOF BG (y)

would like to see more pear detail .... a little less light perhaps?

Pair of Pears.jpg Bunnies.jpg Strange searching for a pair of something yesterday, stumbled across these Bunnnies to-day and I immediatly thought of here, not mine.

Hmmm! A Pair of Pears or a Pair of Hares - Pears for me Shirley. Good choice and fast take.

Urban - I like you first photo for the theme, the building is very stark and that concrete wall make it even starker but I think it works for the theme and definitely says "urban" to me.

Pair - great spot for this week.

Hi Shirley,

Ancient - I do like your photo of the photo. It's amazing what our forebears achieved with the equipment they had 135 years ago!
Urban - Both photos say urban to me, the town one perhaps more so than the marina. Carl may be right about the colour cast. The town feels a bit blue to me too.
Pair - Certainly fits the theme, and you've got the background somewhat oof too :) No colour cast on this one :)
Good find with the pair of hares too.

Thanks for the encouraging comments, all read with interest. The Urban blue cast could be the Lumix camera I think the setting is on Landscape, I need to check it.
Love the pair of pears Shirley, the close up and low angle suits it really well.
The pair of hares look good too :)

Nice pear of pairs or is it the other way round!
