Shiny desktop thread

As I got that picture from a link originally posted here it is not surprising I'm not alone :)

I have an organised start menu with everything arranged in folders so I can get to them without wondering where the program eneded up. I hate a cluttered desktop screen (unlike my real desktop!) so whenever I install something I delete the desktop shortcuts straight away.

Bet those of you with a screen full of icons only know where to look for a few programs anyway :)

DITTO! Ok, less important these days with far greater RAM capacities, but all those desktop icons are taking a little bit of your RAM anyway, so get rid of them. I still despair when I go round to sort a 'my computers running at snails pace' problem, only to find a desktop full of pictures, documents, [not shortcuts, but the actual file] and in two recent cases, their entire 'My Docs' folder :bang: :bang:

I have all my fav programs and folders pinned to the start menu, dead easy to find, and still the same number of mouse clicks to open them as a desktop shortcut. :D

However, one little 'cheat' I do use is when editing pictures. I will often save the edited version straight to desktop as it's easier than navigating between the opening folder and destination folder, then when I have finished, just drag the lot into the actual destination folder I want them in. No doubt everyone has their own little tricks and methods for this kind of thing, its just what I find easiest. ;)

And a few more hard drive icons when i turn them on

Weeeeeeeell the reason I have got that particular colour anyway was because my first car was a mk1 escort (not an RS obviously), originally white but showing the rust, as white does so my father resprayed it.
He was a mechanic (or called a fitter back then) for the local bus company, and often had these bus enthusiast use the garages for restoration work, and there just happened to be some green going spare, and it was the same green as that Escort! :D
It's just a sentimental thing really

I think your monitor focus is a bit squiffy  ;)

Ah thats because its a very low res picture some icons are work based not for public veiwing ;) :D

rofl Peter how many apps do you need in your dock! I'm very impressed

looks like you own every Adobe app there is!

I was going to get the Master collection that is coming out but i decided upon the CS3 Design Premium Suite, I had to keep CS2 until i find out if my plugin's work correctly, then I will change over completely.

I wouldn't have this if Adobe didn't do very cheap software for students

Ok, no effort made to tidy it up, but here is mine... Say hello to evangeline lilly :D

Umm, If you google evangeline lilly, you'll see a similar pic, at 1600/1200 but some tool has basically taken the pic at a much lower res and scaled it up. Look crap. If you add me to msn, chuck2k@hotmail.com I'll send you a better quality version....

I'm not sad.. really! Just too much time in labs :D
