The guy I work with and myself just had a totally nostalgic 20 minutes recalling old sweets, with the end result that we spent about £20 on a mixture of Sherbet did dabs, sherbet fountains, space dust, all sorts of good stuff :D

Kids today just don't know what they're missing out on

There is a shop just up the road from here that just sells sweets by the quarter.

I have to keep telling my feet no as they are constantly trying to get in there. :)
Whats your favoruite then??

I remember going into a shop and asking for a quarter of sherbet lemons and they said they didn't do quarters anymore. I'm only 28 but I didn't know what to ask for. Flying saucers always used to make my face invert.

Refreshers did the same thing to me when you got to the tangy middle bit, mmm :)

Bazooka Joes, Texan Bars and Nutty Bars [homersimpsonvoice]hmmmmmmmmm nutty barrrssss[/homersimpsonvoice]

Spangles......

My phobia about eating Green sweets comes from a Green Spangle I choked on and was sick on my very first day at School. :gag: :puke:

My favourite sweets were Rainbow Drops. Hey Girls (&Guys) did you go to the site on Dod's post? There is a page for Adult sweets..... Did I take a look? :nono: :nono: :nono: .....yes! hehe

Sweet peanuts, Wham bars, rhubard & custards, pineapple chunks

the list is endless :slobber:

Oooh sweet peanuts - forgot about those. Skewing the topic slightly - Who else thinks those new Peanut Butter chunky kit kats are rather tasty?! They were originally a limited edition but now it seems as though it's a permanent thing.

Black jacks are one of my faves from the "good old days" - I also remember annoying the man in the newsagents down the road by going in there at the end of the week when the pocket money had run a bit low and trying to persuade him into selling us 2 ozs of cola pips or their fruit equivalent!

black jacks and fruit salads for me!

Another vote for Texan bars, they were back for a limited period last crimbo, I filled me boots :)

Also, there used to be an ovaltine choocy bar, yum yum :D

Glees (renamed Tuuti-Frutti), Spangles, Zoom ice-lollies; Marathon bars (still won't call them Sneakers (sic)), Pez dispensers liquorice bootlaces (red & black varieties).
A shiny Half-Crown for sunday pocket money from Grand-dad. Empty bottles of Mackeson Stout (with corks) by the back door. The smell of Tom Thumb panatellas before the sunday roast.
Where did the last 40 years go?

Kola Cubes,m PineApple Chunks, Winter mixtures (even the suprise horrid ones that burnt your throat, losse sherbet(not the crstal stuff the powder), sweet cigarrettes and my mostist favourite was Spanish Main sweet tobacco that used to be basically strands of coconut dipped in some brown stuff to resemble tobacco :) HAPPY DAYS!!!!!!!!!!

Im with Arkady, theyre still Marathons to me, as are Opal Fruits :D

I still have no idea what to ask for...lol It's like "A pint". Once they phase that out, I can imagine the conversations...

"A pint please"
"Sorry sir we dont sell it in pints any more, we only sell it in litres"
"Er, gimme a 5 litre beer then :D"

lmfao - pure gold :)

large beer will do it :p

they sell them by the 100g now, so you have 100g of sweets, they're actually doing you out of 25g because a quarter of a pound is 125g. Its sneaky :(

Star bars are still available in the shops. Bought one the other day ... And cheaper than the rip off 59p.

These are my faves as well .... Great when they stick to the roof of your mouth :D

I haven't seen them in the shops for years  The only time I get to eat one now is Christmas and birthdays when Beverley buys them for me off the interweb :D

Oooh yes please, I'll be your new best friend :D

Why did they get rid of wispa bars???!!!! Best chocolate bar EVER!!!
Had the usual rainbow drops, beer bottles, cherry lips, golf ball chewing gum, choc lick mmmm
