I think the quote was regarding how people can be sheep , so rather cleverly the words were put together - sheep people, sheeple.

Simples.

ARGHH!! - must not do that, bloody meerkat.

Barry, it just goes to show a complete lack of
To bring you up to date on what's happening over there, one member has said "Well what do you expect for £99? After all, you get the magazine, access to the forum and the convention is brilliant." There was me thinking that I would have to pay extra for the "brilliant" convention and that it isn't included in my membership fee:bonk:

Of course, the usual bunch of sycophants piped up saying "well said" - I will leave it to your imagination to work out who it was.

Dave Routledge then posted some pointless ramble about a man on a desert island who formed his own photographic club before he was rescued. He didn't indicate in his yarn if this stranded photographer tendered his resignation before he was rescued....

Simon

Well its a tactic I expected from Mr Jones, leave the thread up so he can make an exhibition without me having any ability to defend my words or actions.

And he has not cancelled my membership as he put my details back up, which was no request of mine!

So I will leave you lot to put the pieces together.

Anyways, if I could answer to a few, the £99 one would go along the lines of:
There are free forums containing varying levels of photographer from beginner to the truly talented pro's where you are able to input an honest opinion without being silenced.
You can ask for a critique from a seasoned photographer in the world and get a break down of your images and construction on how to improve rather then an A4 detailing faults.
And I can get monthly magazines with the same content and more for only £20 a year!
And lets get the classification of the convention correct, its a TRADE SHOW as in sell you more stuff, with lectures there, a few basic ones included many not.

Oh, and god bless Dave, I know what he's on about and is insinuating I will be coming back once I hath see the error of my ways, I don't think so!
If there is one thing I don't do its look back and question my decisions!

:D LOL,,

Ps

Sorry if ime ranting, kept quiet for so long this is me venting off all my frustration and anger with them that I could not do if I were still a member!

If that is ranting Barry , then it's pretty tame!!

You are getting things off your chest , and that is one of the purposes of forums. Well, some forums....... :)

Do yourself a favour, go and make a cup of tea and stick a good DVD on, Relax!!

Best advice I have heard all day

Might put a tot of whisky in it ;)

Then go chuck snow balls at kids singing IME FREE! :cuckoo:

lol I now have a subscription to photo-pro in it's place. Much better value IMHO and as for the Trade Show. I bought tickets to go on the Monday which is the last day only to find that although my seminar is on that day the trade show won't. They all pack up and go home on the Sunday so I won't be able to see anyone at the trade show. That's a right lot of use that is! :bang:

Well having just had a look at the SWPP forum thread started by Barry, it has now been successly diffused, and it's right off track now- they are talking about the band 'Sparks'.

Well, it is the weekend.

Ain't that what normally happens with a lot of threads that are even mildly contentious. A small group of people take it totally off track and spoil it. No moderation.

The SWPP entertainment for the Saturday night social evening was booked on the 7th July and has been advertised on the SWPP site since March 09!

In that case I have been lied to by the SWPP or you have Nigel.

I have in my possession an email from SWPP dated 28th September 2009 which in response to my question to what was happening on the Saturday night, and I quote

"Saturday evening party. Not happening this time".

In addition, and I shall say this with care and deliberation, it is possible to ascertain when a web page was initially uploaded and indexed by Google so I would recommend that SWPP HQ think very clearly and carefully about what it is saying to its members and the legitimacy of when pages were or were not uploaded or updated. They need to be 100% sure of their facts else it WILL come back and bite them on the backside.

GoBack is just one example of tools that availabel to check these things. Google it :)

Well,

it does not take the brains of an Arch Bishop to see how quickly the page was put together to make people think it has been there a long time, just look at the title tags in the source;
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"><html><head>
<title>Sunday Night Awards Dinner </title>
as to things like GoBack that is one of the reasons why Phil Jones says he will not remove your details from his site.

Mike

Richard it is all part of a trend of lies, damn lies and deception however using an expresion that I am sure that Dave would approve of 'be sure your lies will find you out'.

Mike

Well the SWPP's level of professionalism and care has been clearly demonstrated over the last months. I would hazard a guess and say that no mater what corner one digs in, the same level of professionalism and care will be found

walks like a duck...

Meanwhile, I think we all need to concentrate on our passion & livelihoods - photography

Well, the thread has served at least one useful purpose: I found the forum through a now-deleted link on the SWPP forum. :-)

I joined the SWPP on a recommendation for the quality of its forum, and I have to say that recommendation has been spot-on. The forums are generally populated by a bunch of helpful people with a real willingness to discuss business issues with competitors.

The qualifications and the competitions are a joke, for reasons already mentioned. Not only judges having a vested interest in failing people so they can sell them commercial courses in how to pass, but once the SWPP gave in to pressure and started publishing the mentoring reports, they were laughable. "This photo does not follow the rule of thirds" was one direct quote! And lots of the feedback would have been extremely useful to the photographers if their ambition is to take 1970s-style photos ...

I certainly don't use the SWPP logo on my website, and wouldn't if you paid me to.

"hello", marky, mike, mark, ali, dave, nigel, barry.

Forums aint as good as they were, people still pitch in veiws and opinions but generally walk on eggshells :'(

As for the rest of it: Bob on :)

and I think what youve described there shows how they are making inaccurate claims, well except the recommended training program bit

Our invaluable 'Mentor Me' programme enables our members to receive a one to one appraisal of their work and advice for progression. All evaluation reports include recommendations for participation in training programmes pertinent to personal professional development

oh ps anyone got any other videos they would like to contribute?

I don`t walk on eggshells.

Some of the posts in this thread are some of thee most egotistical, banal crap one could ever read on any forum. Some people have far too high an opinion of thier work and themselves. In fact, some are behaving like playground bullies with the same infantile mentality.

If you are all so bloody good at what you do,and that is the impression you give, then why are you so concerned about an internet/web based/voluntary society?

If you don`t like the afore mentioned "club", then leave.Simple as that.

I think the point of this thread (though I appreciate there's some "axe grinding" going on) is to warn fellow photographers of the pitfalls of this organisation. And that there are other real societies that may be more suitable. :)

To be fair to Fracster if he (or she) has never had any dealings with The SWPP thenhis post is understandable because he will not have any idea what he is talking about

Point of order for those seeking to shut those here wishing to continue the discussion.

Don't read the thread - it's simple really.

After all it is a discussion forum.

If the moderators had thought otherwise they surely would have blocked it by now.

Right! Until now I have kept my mouth shut. I am better placed than you all as far as the activities and behaviour of the SWPP is concerned but now they have crossed a line and I will keep quiet no longer in the professional manner in which I have conducted myself as opposed to the personal attacks, insults and pure spite that have motivated their actions.

Today I have been informed that I am not even allowed to be part of a staff team for any of my kind supporters at their trade show. It is a shame when people let personal feelings transcend the importance of professionalism

What reason have they given Martin?, seems a bit off that.
