Sheffield Endcliffe park flypast

I managed to just miss it 'live' on TV but I've been following the story and saw the flypast video on the BBC website. It was very moving. So many aircraft lost, so many guys killed during WW2 that were nothing to do with enemy action. There's several crash sites on Dartmoor, all, I believe, caused by poor weather and navigational problems - all those things we don't even consider now when we jet off on our holidays. A huge well done to all the people that made this morning happen.

I'm lucky enough to work about half a mile from Endcliffe park and our office is just above the rooftops. Even better the flight path was straight over the office, amazing site.

Looking forward to watching this tonight.
All happened because BBC's Dan Walker saw the old chap tending the memorial whilst he was in the park.

Lots of dust around today...

A great story, brilliant turnout and well done all

MiL was a teenager living in Sheffield throughout WW II and was completely unaware of the crash until it came up (through Dan Walker's chance meeting with the old gent at the memorial) on Breakfast.

As Byker says, great story, turnout etc..

Very sweet to watch.
The old fella seems to carry a tremendous amount of guilt, but what a day for him.
