That was taken with my Tamron 70-300 settings were f11 at 1/125, iso100 and focal length of 148mm. I was on the roof of the old ATC tower, the one used now is in the background.
There are lots of viewing points as the airfield is quite open, the long runway runs north/south but the one that gets most use is the southwesterley one. There's spotters out there most days, we don't get many fixed wing visitors but we do get the odd Merlin, Chinook, Puma and Apache etc. Shawbury is the helicopter training school for all three services so lots of fixed wing visitors would be too disruptive.
