With that much bounced light, it may only be a little different than using the flash without one. Watch the ABBC/David Gregg version, the foamy one can be shortened, to give less light at the front if needed.
 
Yes, probably a bit big, but you can vary the bounce-fill ratio by zooming the flash head - longer setting increases the bounce and reduces the fill. Also, tilting the head down a bit will increase the amount of fill by a lot.

Thanks for the advice, I can slide it further down the flash head, do you think it would be worth trimming it a little?

Also worth noting the shape of it will also dictate the shape and size of the catch lights...;)

Have you seen the size of the Metz 45 one? it's huge.
