When i brought my 5d it came as a package with the 28-105 lens, should i keep this, what use is it.

I have the following lenses aswell

Canon 70-200 F4 IS
Canon 100-400 IS
Canon 50 F1.8
Canon Extender x2

Tamron 50-270 from my 550d that i still have

I want to shoot the following.

Landscapes
Dog Potraits
Dog Agility
Wildlife
Sports

So should i keep it or sell and above another lens

Hi

I have recently bought a 5D with a 24-105mm lens. My first impression of this lens is very good, all of the reviews that I have read are also positive.

The 24-105mm extends the range of your L lenses to cover most situations.

Personally I would sell the Tamron if anything.

As above-the canon is better quality than the Tamron.

I recently reviewed some shots I took in Dubrovnik earlier this year with the 5D2 and the 24-105.
I had taken some shots from the city walls of a fairly distant shopping street and I was amazed just how sharp the 100% crops of the raw files were.

There is no place for the Tamron in your excellent lineup.

Please do not confuse 28-105 with 24-105mm IS L, the latter being the far superior version. I'd only keep 28-105 for as long as required to purchase a better medium range zoom

The tamron is no good on 5D so why keep it?

I'm confused by the question "what use is
It?". Surely it's use is whatever you put it to?

Well, if you want to shoot landscapes I would imagine it would be quite useful to you as it's the widest lens you have.

I expect the OP meant to say 24-105 as the 5D comes bundled with this lens?

In which case your next step is to upgrade your two main f/4 lenses to the f/2.8 versions which will cost approx £2500 buying new and with no trade in taken into account.
Only you can say whether that's worth doing or not.

I would keep the 24-105 as it covers a very useful focal range.

My question is then why do you need the 70-200 f4. The this range is covered by the 100-400. The now if that was an f2.8 I could understand.

I have both. I tend to use them on two bodies when shooting zoos, sport etc. 100-400 on a tripod/mono then 70-200 handheld to give a bit of freedom. So the cross over does have uses.

Because the 70-200 is a massively better lens than the 100-400, but the latter covers the 200-400 range?

Thanks All, im going to sell the Tamron.

Just Brought a 100-400
