Well, as an ageing punk this caught my eye. I may have watched it before but I'll be watching it again.

Long time since Pretty Vacant but I do find myself perusing Youtube now and again for a few nostalgic Sex Pistols :)

Linky

if the link doesn't work..Monday, Sky Arts HD 20:00.

Cheers.

BTW, did they ever work out who killed Bambi? :)

I occasionally listen to some. I still think that Bodies is one of the all-time great tracks.

I recently watched a documentary about the tour which included a children's christmas party; delightful, Bodies included as well as cake! I regard B@ll@x to be one of my favourite albums, for it's production alone.

Great band. Messers Cook, Jones and Matlock were/are better musicians than they were given credit for. The end.

Bodies. Indeed, the visceral friggin' wonderful lyrics work for me.

One of the best album covers EVER!

The end, indeed. Lead singer, interesting :) manger and the masochistic Sid were always going to over shadow the aforementioned.

Cheers.

Yeh, a great all round combination. A lot of punk bands had the reputation of not being able to play their instruments but Cook, Jones and Matlock certainly could.

John B was originally a drummer before he was picked to play the role of bassist after Matlock "left". (Seems Glen didn't like the "special mayonnaise" other band members filled his French stick with... Allegedly!)

IIRC, Bambi eventually died of natural causes, it was his Mum that was brutally murdered by the Nazi sympathiser's minions. I don't think the killer was ever brought to justice.

Thanks for the heads-up.

Having 2 older brothers, at the time I was listening to the likes of Led Zeppelin, Yes, ELP, et al.

The song that changed things for me was The Damned's "New Rose" - then came The Clash, Ramones and, of course, The Pistols, especially (for me) "Anarchy in the uK". To this day, I think it's one THE great rock songs.

Now, of course, nearly 40 years on, I'm still listening to all those bands - the good stuff has lasted as well as anything that came before. I wonder if in another 35-40 years our kids will still be listening to the music of 1D and other "manufactured" bands (not that there's anything wrong with that, as such - The Pistols themselves being one such).
