Hi,
I just know this is going to be a daft question but this is my first go with any gear such as this.

I am trying to get Yongnu RF 602 working with a 550D and 430 EX 11.

Both batteries fitted, receiver and transmitter set to channel 1 all other channel left in off position.

If I press the button on the transmitter to the first position both lights go green.

If I press the button to the 2nd position both lights go red.

If I press the shutter no lights and no flash.

Is there something else I should be setting up?

Cheers for any help.

I take it you have your camera setting on flash.:)

I have the flash set to manual and have tried ETTL.

I have checked the camera menu under Flash control - enabled

Under built in flash - The menu can not be accessed external flash is attached

Under External flash - This menu can not be displayed. Incompatible flash or flash power is turned off.

Ar,

I have give all the contact faces a wipe and it is working, sorry to waste your time.

Once last question, sorry I am sure there will more once I get in to it lol.

Should I see any indication in the camera view finder regarding the flash?

Cheers, Alex

the receiver seems seated correctly as the camera body is detecting something on the hotshoe. Sounds like possibly the receiver is not talking to the flash. If the flash goes into standby does the half press wake it up?

Hi Alex

1st - Is the transmitter for a Canon? Only asking as the Nikon version looks the same (my friend has one), but has a different pin layout on the underside of the hot shoe.

2nd - Your flash will only fire in Manual Mode - E-TTL is not supported

3rd - You will get no indications in the veiwfinder, as the combination does not support E-TTL

4th - Can't think of anything else, sorry :bang:

Try removing the batteries from both units and then reseat them. I went into B&Q to try a new battery in the transmitter - which worked - and then putting the old battery back in also worked - so I never bought the new one ;-)
Try testing them off camera first by pressing the button on the top of the transmitter.
Work in a closely confined space (corner of a room) as mine doesn't like windows in the shot - sometimes.

lol... OP said he's resolved it in post 5.... Time to read the thread and not just the first post perhaps?

Sorry guys,

I have been upstairs trying to assemble the stand, shoot through brolly, adaptor and flash. My my, there a lot of bits lol

Thanks for all your help and advice, it was either the contacts not clean. Or I am embarrassed to say I might have had the receiver on back to front. The logical looking way is with it facing backwards but it is the other way round, funny thou you can't turn it on or off with the flash on it.

Well now I am up and going I am sure there will be plenty of other questions lol
Cheers alex

Oops no matter! It may help someone else who experiences the problem.
