Yes
I decided to nuke my late brother's Medion Akoya P4020 D with DBan and reload the operating system etc with a view to possibly selling it. It has a 32 and 64 bit disc, of which I initially loaded the latter having read the linked review complaining about the 32 bit version being preloaded. I couldn't find Microsoft Works 9.0 or Office 2007 trial edition that are supposedly included and wondered if I needed to load the 32 bit version instead  So I did  Still can't find them, not on the 3rd disc containing tools etc.

Anyway, what I'm wondering is, if I do decide to sell it,
  • Would it make much difference which version I loaded?
  • What free software would you recommend I load to make it more appealing?
  • Am I right in thinking upgrades to RAM etc would make little difference to it's achievable price?
  • Is soak testing worthwhile?
  • What could I realistically expect to get for it?

I think its about 2 years old and works just fine.

Cheers Neil
Someone got a decent bit of kit for that price then.

According to that link, it's supposed to have 4GB of RAM installed, so definitely put 64bit on.

I'd avoid putting any software on it tbh, even openoffice. It's just bloatware if the buyer doesn't want it. You can always mention it to them, or include a disc with it on so they can install it if they want.

Cheers Joe. I've loaded the 64 bit now and think i'll leave it at that
