I wonder if anyone could shed any light on this.
I have a Hp micro server which Im connected to through my virgin media hub.
It work well and happy with the speed except every now and then whilst Im using it it seems to go into idle, the connection hangs. I sometimes have to open windows explorer and click on a few folders to force it to wake up.

I could understand if I havent used it for a while but this will do it randomly sometime when Im looking at files on it.

the problem may be my main computer as I think this was happening with a a lacie raid drive that I had connected to it as well.

Anyone shed any light on it?

western digital green drives I think, the server is running whs Im running windows 7

Ill have a look into my network card as well.

when it was doing it with the lacie drive that was connected via esata

This may have helped me too as my hard drives always took a while to spin up.

Have a look at advanced settings in your power saver stuff, click on hard-drives and set to never.

Seems that 20mins. is the default setting on Win7.
