To say i am not happy at the moment would be a slight understatement.

So starts the hassle of getting it sorted / replaced :(

Good luck hope it goes through quickly and hassle free..

Take a deep breath.
Sorry for you I know how it feels.

That must be the version where you don't get a choice as to whether IS is turned on or off.. lucky dip!

Thats disapointing, hope the supplier backs you up quickly and gets it sorted.

could be worse, could be in the off position!

Seriously, hope it gets sorted quickly!!!!

Not being funny but you might have a right battle on your hands getting them to accept you received it like that.

The big question is did you buy it from a canon shop ?. if not they will blame you for sure lol but hope you get it sorted

Thanks for the support, i just need to vent at the moment.

It wouldn't be so bad if Canons website wasn't so painfull to use, it's sooooooo sloooooooow. I got it through them, indirectly, my cousin works for them so got a staff discount for me.

Still c'est la vie i spose, what can you do but wait for the wheels to slowly grind around, typically its a weekend so i don't suppose i'll hear back till monday at the earliest :(.

i think this could be one of the worst things thats ever happened to anyone.

:cuckoo: If this was the worst thing that had ever happened to me in life i would consider myself one of the luckiest people on the planet !

I'm sure if you got it through a relative who works for Canon, it shouldn't be to much of a hassle to get sorted ;)

I'm sure that it can be fixed quite easily. It's just a switch coverplate held on by a couple of screws.

Have you got enough canon gear to register with Canon professional services?

This might speed up repairs a bit.

Thats rough. Did it drop off or did it come like that.

What you need is a cup of warm sweet tea dear.

I hope that you have better luck than this TPer :naughty: ...

Still, there are some useful tips for getting what you want in that thread ;).

Good luck with it - should be straightforward enough to get sorted, but definitely infuriating when it happens with something new like that :bang:.

Stupid question but have you checked the packaging? This is just a push on switch plate which can work lose. If no luck try Calumet.

Well its taken 5 weeks+ but i finally got my replacement lens back. Seriously not impressed with Canons customer support. Lets hope this one lasts a bit longer.

Still it has a nice new 50D to go with it :D

Fingers crossed for some nice weather to get out there and use it.

Yeah to say i was getting a bit miffed about it would be somewhat understating it.

Still i have it back now and hopefully thats the end of it.

Debatable as to whether i'll be buying anymore canon lenses anytime soon though.

99/100 are perfect and last for years, you were just unlucky. You went the 'friend who works for Canon' route and it worked out for you eventually.

[sing]Always look on the bright side of life......[/sing]

I bet that tune will be in your head all night now ;)

Did your relative say
"Oh you meant price when you said you wanted something off..."

5 weeks is much too long for such a simple thing to fix. Not impressed.
