Sepp Blatter has been suspended by FIFA

So, he finally gets suspended just weeks before he's due to quit anyway.

Well done, ethics committee, very brave.

Suspended on full pay and will get a massive pay out for quitting?

Is that more painful than being suspended by the footandballs

The guy is an idiot. How he has remained in charge for so long is a mystery

I'm not a fan, and he's properly f***ed up some massive stuff, however he has also overseen a massive worldwide audience expansion of the game, which was his key performance indicator.

In a lot of the world, in many ways he's been a roaring success (which seems mental from our PoV)

That is true I guess, it is a global package but it is a shame it is full of corruption

The suspension means he cannot take part in any fifa activities until the next president/dictator is decided.
You have to wonder if this is this to stop him influencing the vote or perhaps not being able to have any evidence destroyed for the ongoing investigation?

And let's been honest, this has only happened because the 4 biggest sponsors have applied pressure, which is really too late. They should have done this months ago.

Why is it that three of the largest sporting organisations in the World are totally corrupt and they are coincidentally based in Switzerland - FIFA (football of course, UCI (cycling), IOC (olympics)?
Coincidentally (or maybe not), the country is still one of the favourite tax havens for the rich and powerful.

I think it's not just the tax treatment, but the company (and similar types of body) law that allows them to hide their activities. IIRC correctly, FIFA isn't a company but some kind of weird Swiss 'club'-type entity that means it doesn't have to file public accounts - very useful if you don't want people nosing around.
