Separate cold shoe mount

I've got a small directional mic with hot shoe style mount, and would like to use that to quickly attach it onto a flat surface rather than to a camera.
So I'm wanting the part normally on the camera as a separate item.
This seems a simple idea and I rather expected sticky pad or screw down versions on ebay under £5 but found nothing - any ideas?
I do have an L shaped handle with two on the side of it but didn't want to wreck that or somehow fix it to the spot!
I'm thinking it might have to be done by some kind of adapter you might have on a tripod, but that sounds cumbersome.

I did see that but being in China it would take a month, bought one from ebay link in my post and will stick it down with a double sided sticky pad perhaps.
