Sensor filters?

I was chatting to a photographer earlier and she told me about the new sensor filters, diffuser, mist, and IR magnetic sensor filters. This is the first I've heard of them.
Is it real or was I being had?

You can certainly get them for astro & IR modified applications.

Well, I'll be darned. I was thinking it was a wind up. She mentioned mist and diffusion as well as IR. Thats what threw me. I cant see someone osing a diffusion filter like that. The IR for astro makes sense.
