So ..... I received my 70-200 from Kerso today and while taking some test shots I noticed that my 20D's sensor is filthy!!!

Tried a blower to get rid, but there is quite a bit of persistent dust. Can anyone recommend me a place in Edinburgh that does a good job of sensor cleaning?

It's not that hard to do it yourself :)

this is how I clean mine but if you don't fancy the wet method then alternatives get discussed further on in the thread too.

I was considering doing a wet clean myself but was a bit scared. I have read that some places won't wet clean and you end up paying for a dry sensor clean that leaves dirt on.

Maybe I'll do it myself.

Cheers mate. Cameratiks is literally 5mins walk from my door! But spurred on by RobertP's great tutorial I've ordered some swabs and fluid!

I'm planning on buying a new body at some point this year anyway, so if it doesn't clean it perfectly I can always use the magic of Photoshop until then.

Read this too for the pro view on all the methods available before you tackle the job. :)

Cheers CT.

I read that one before posting. It sounded complicated so thought I'd chicken out and get a pro to do it but I've since grown a pair and will do it myself!!

Well a pair will come in handy. :D

The truth is dust on sensors is a fact of life and you can get paranoid about it. Clean it when you feel you must. If it's just a couple of specs - touch 'em out in in PS.

Well I cleaned my sensor myself!! Didn't muck about making swabs though and just bought them too. Results are fantastic, not a spec of dust remains!! So glad I didn't spend £50 to get someone else to do it when it's that easy.............

In fact forget all that. It is REALLY REALLY difficult, so if anyone needs theirs done I will do it for the bargin price of £49.99. :naughty:

Gary 79. If you wouldn't mind posting the complete 'cleaning kit' parts list, and where you got them. I'm gonna have to have a go myself but not 100% sure on what to buy.

For the record last sensor clean i had done cost me 30 quid and a week without my camera. They did a very good job though, LCE Southampton Civic was the place.

Swabs which come with a little bottle of fluid.
