Hi Guys,

Had a go at cleaning the sensor on my canon eos 40d yesterday using a rocket blower. I cleaned the exterior of the camera first to remove any dust, then set the camera to manual sensor clean, and had the camera facing upside down while cleaning, returned the lens and had a look through the viewfinder at a white surface, and now there is more visible dust than before i started cleaning.

Can anyone give me advice as to what i have done wrong? and perhaps do i need to look at another different product to clean with?

Cheers,

Rob.

ddoes the specs show through the viewfinder or on th images?

take a photo of a something white if this is clean then the specs are on the viewfinder.

Cheers Steve

All I'll say is be really careful and if you're not sure what you're doing, take it to a pro.

I tried to clean up inside my camera a few weeks back when I noticed spots on the pictures, somehow buggered the focussing screen/LED array and am now without a camera whilst the repair guy waits for Canon to send him the parts :bang:

I'm an idiot :D

If you seeing dust through the viewfinder, its not on the sensor....

Rocket blowing the sensor will more than not , blow more dust onto it than before. I rocket blow the front of my lenses when I see dust on there and it rarely shifts a few stubborn specs of dust. You need to wet clean.
