Not sure if this is the right place for this:

can anyone recommend any camera stores that have a good sensor cleaning service, in the midlands (Birmingham, Worcestershire, Warwickshire)

I'd say a small independant shop would be your best bet, google your area.

Why don't you do it yourself? I think the biggest risk is scratching your sensor, but if you use a blower before using a brush
or using the wipe method with swab cleaners you should be ok from what I've read.

I think I'd sooner have a go myself than entrust someone else to do it personally.

I know the Calumet on Drummond Street does sensor cleaning now, so this may be the same for other stores:

I tend to do it myself with blower brush, Dust Aid, Arctic Butterfly and Sensor loupe.

i did google for sensor cleaning and got rubish results, mainly adverts and cr*p, google is getting pretty much un-useable these days, relevent results are few and far between.

i think i'd prefere someone else do it first, then maybe when a bt more confident will do it myself, don't think i'm ready to take the plunge just yet.
 
There is a Calumet in Birmingham, check out the URL for other locations. Might be best to call them to confirm they offer this service before visiting though.
