I've had good success in the past cleaning sensors but I recently went to clean my D610 sensor. It had some oily spots on it which had been there more or less since I bought it but decided to finally clean them off. I used my wet swabs that I've used in the past but it just created smeary lines across the sensor.

Does anyone have any tips? I've ordered some dry swabs and some cleaning solution:

Has anyone used this before? I'm kind of hoping it will come by the weekend as I have two bookings that I need the camera for and can't use it with those smears.

Some years back, I wet cleaned my D200's sensor and managed to (as I thought at the time) scratch it. Had another go at it a few days later with a sensorklear from LensPen which disposed of the "scratches" which were in fact smeared oil.

I recall reading about some issues with the D610 and oil on the sensor - might be worth contacting Nikon to see if your camera needs checking out?

I'm sure it's fine. I had some appear early on and then left it because I couldn't be bothered to clean the sensor and I haven't noticed it getting any worse.

I don't really want to go into the whole D6xx oil issue right night now as it's more important that I get the thing clean before the weekend.
