I have been trying to clean the sensor on my 5d2.

I have tried dry cleaning which didn't remove what look like grease spots on my sensor. I then invested in sensor swabs to wet clean.

All that has happened is by the wet clean it has made the sensor more dirty.

I have been blowing dust out then using a sensor pen, then wet swabs (pre done type).

After wet cleaning I have more dirt and dust on my sensor. I can't seem to get it clean at all, it seems worse. I have gotten rid of the grease spots, but even after 4 swabs (which is all i bought) it has dust all over it and is in some ways worse than before.

Any advice?

Think I am going to pay to have it done, any recommendations of where to send it to or somewhere in Lincs who do it while you wait.

I would be interested in the best product to use as i have dust and blowing will not remove it.

2 passes with a swab should have it looking like new. Can you actually see dust on the sensor or are you seeing spots when looking through the view finder?

There was a grease spot in one of the corners, but finally have used my sensor kleen pen a lot of blowing, reusing a swab in desperation, more pen, more blowing it is finally at a stage where I am happy with it. Cpl of specks of dust left, but I can live with that. Hopefully I am just anally retentive about it and scared because of first time doing it.

Think I may invest in a dust stamp to be able to pull of the last few bits, and after doing it without I do think a loupe is going to be worth the money in the future.

Another question does anyone know where you would stand with camera insurance if you b****r a sensor cleaning it?

you'd have to be literally pouring fluid in to b****r the sensor. Get your self a lenspen sensorklear. My sensor is right up in the lens mount, almost to the point of sticking out. Every now and then the inevitable happens and a dust spot pops up. Quick shufty with the lenspen and it's done for another few months.

Well done for getting a happy conclusion....................and anally retentive and togging does go together like pea's and carrots. I once changed a focus screen because of one speck of un-removable crud.

As for claiming on your insurance should you mullor your sensor, I think you might be on a sticky wicket. If you feel the need to get the JCB in there, consider getting it done professionally.
