I bought the visibledust cleaning kit to clean the sensor of my D600. This one intended for oil spots. I did as instructed and dabbed two drops of the liquid on the swab. But it hardly dried off. There is water/liquid marks on the sensor. I used the next swap in the same way. Then used the two dry swaps to dry and dry off the marks this worked quite a lot but I can still see some dried marks on the sensor. Considering taking it to get cleaned properly.
 
You're meant to use as little as possible with these products.

Have you thought of testing your technique on something that does not matter?
Mask off a section of glass, the same size as the sensor, with masking tape or selotape- a mirror or window- and see how much to use.
Remember that the sensor is covered with glass so it won't be damaged, unless you something very daft!

I didn't try that and I only had the 4 swabs. I dipped the corners in for a split second as it quickly absorbs the liquid. The swabs weren't dripping wet. Might buy the water solution one and some extra swabs to give it another go. Will the water marks affect image quality?

Anything on the sensor will probably affect the image. Dust affects it, so I would imagine streaks would too -but not as much.

Luckily the dry swaps took off most of it. And looking straight down you can't really see them, you have to tilt the camera about to see them.
 
I had exactly he same problem a few years ago when I wet cleaned oil spots in my D200. Thought I'd actually managed to scratch the sensor/high pas filter. Soon afterwards, 7dayshop were doing a deal on multibuying LensPen SensorKleans so I bought a few (having been impressed with their lens/filter cleaning products). Since I thought the D200's sensor was fnurkled anyway, I used it as a trial/practice run and lo and behold, the sensor/HPF came up clear as a bell.
 
i thought you were only supposed to drip a couple of drops on the swab ,sounds to me like you have over saturated it .the method i use regularly is open mirror box with camera upside down ,hold above my head and give it several puffs with a good rocket blower ,close mirror ,re-fit lens and do a manual sensor shake in menu .take a couple of test shots ,if dust persists a dry lens pen type sensor cleaner would be the next stage .only a wet clean if really desperate .
 
Did you had oil on your sensor in the first place? It just doesnt make sense to me why would you use solution that cleans oil and water to wipe your sensor? It is meant to clean stains not dust. I might be wrong but the solution i use for dust, evaporates in seconds and leaves no marks regardless how much you put on. But you suppose to put 2 drops.
 
May I suggest not putting drop of cleaning fluid straight onto swabs they soak up too much. Put a drop on a glass or similar and quickly dip a swab into it. That way you have better control on how much to put on the swab
