Selling pictures

I have a picture (not photograph) that I am trying to sell, problem is where to advertise it or send it.
Its a big (42 x 42") framed acrylic on board that was just over £1,000 + VAT from a gallery when it was purchased so not the sort of thing that ebay would be suitable for and I am aware that its going to be worth a fair bit less if I want to sell it now :'(
I have tried a few auction houses but they either don't reply or are not interested, only one gallery around here and they sell prints and not this sort of thing.
Does anyone here move in the arty world and know where I could take it or advertise it?
 
Artworks sell OK on eBay as do other non-run-of-the-mill items e.g. my local church sold a cast iron spiral staircase for £1,000+

When/if I come to sell a collection of specialist stuff, I think I'll just put up a simple webpage and let those searching find it.
 
Putting up a webpage may be the way to go, I had not thought of doing that :thumbs:
