... I wont be putting it in Autotrader or anything, just putting a sign in my car, but what does it need to say? So far it just says:

For Sale

6 months tax
12 months MOT
Price £******

Contact 01234 ******

Will that be enough? Sorry for the crap question, I am proud to know more about cameras than cars ;)
 
Thanks hepburn, didnt see the need for putting mileage and colour in there, I hope no-one is that stupid to call me and ask :D
 
My advice Betty?

Put the relevant details regarding the tax and MOT situation along with the mileage, but DON'T put the price in there.

If somebody sees your car and is interested, they will have to phone you to find out how much it is.
Once you have got them on the phone, you can at least gauge their interest from what they are saying and maybe sow the seeds of the sale if you get on with them OK.

My advice, put a price on there. I buy a lot of cars (and am in the motor trade), and if I see a car with a price on, I'll go and have a nose. If it hasn't, I tend to walk away.
remember, you're selling it not "ebaying" it!

I'd put year, price, miles, tax and MOT, and also service history.
To me the service history is one of the important factors. Always nice to know a car has been well looked after.
Rather by a well serviced car with 100k on the clock than one with 50k on the clock with no service history.

I agree with Coxy. If I was buying a car I wouldn't bother if I saw a sign in a car without a price even if I liked the car, I'd assume you'd be trying it on. It's a buyers market on second hand cars.
 
I'd put it on Autotrader. Why? Because if want to buy a car I will go on there and look for examples of the type of car I want, with my maximum budget. If I wanted a 3 door Renault Clio for up to £5000 in blue, I wouldn't drive around the streets randomly until I found one with a "For sale" sign in it's window.

True, but a sign in the window doesn't cost anything!

and there's nothing worse than asking an owner how much they want for a car without a price as they invariably say "what are you willing to offer?".

I only buy classic cars which to be honest is far worse than buying new cars as there are so many more variables in order to attain the price.

depends on the car and the price though. If I was after a cheap runaround I would not be looking at specific cars - just a decent car at a sensible price.

Also depends on where the car is parked - if there is a lot of footfall then always worth a go.

I think you might be better off including your number Betty. There are a lot of permutations for that listing, so it might take a while for a potential buyer to work out your number! :D
