Hi guys
I am looking for some advice regarding selling images'
Recently I took some pics of people kyaking in the sea at Scarborough.
I was approached by a woman who asked me if I would send her some of the images.I told her that I would post them on my website for her to view.
I then got a message saying the images were ace and could I send her some.
I told her the images were available to buy for a small fee if she wished.
The next thing I know I get an email saying She would not be buying any oof the images and that she would be seeking legal advice becase it is an offence to sell images that show peoples faces.
My question is what she is saying is it correct ? The only reason I posted them is because she wanted me to, once she found out she had to pay just £2.00 for a jpeg she throws a wobbler.
Thanks
Mark :bonk:

I'm not sure on laws, but it sounds like she is trying threats to get free pics. I'd say to her "thats ok then, I won't sell them or send them to anyone" just to see what she comes back with.

I have already removed them from my site She has just got me thinking as to wether or not I am braking any laws.I have never had a problem like this in the past and am just a bit shocked.

From what i believe thats a load of rubbish as long as the photos were shot in a public place you can pretty much photograph what and who you like and sell them! Just take the paparazzi in the country for example. Hold out i will have a quick google :)

shes talking out of her fundament - so long as the pics were taken in a public place (which these clearly were) in the uk you are free to sell them without her consent or release (there are certain provisos like making sure that they arent used in a defamatory way.

I'd ignore her - if she does indeed seek legal advice vsomeone will hopefully explain to her that shes full of carp

Youre 100% safe mate, tell her to jump or offer them at over inflated prices, she dont have a leg to stand on.

Tell her there is a village missing an idiot and would she kindly return. Your pics - your choice. They were taken legally and as long as they dont mis represent you can do anything you want with them. MAKE sure you WATERMARK, if they right click or screen grab at least you know they're yours. ;)

Phil.

As has already been said, it sounds as though she doesn't have a leg to stand on in legal terms.

Far more importantly you need to review your prices; £2 is way too cheap!
