I'm having to part with my bron and was going to just send it to ffordes to sell on commission but I've started wondering if (after paying fees etc) I'd get more on evilbay? I'd thought not but not sold anything on there for ages so not sure how silly the listing fees have become etc

cheers

Well it's 10% of final plus the listing fee... try in the classified first?

Arthur

Selling Fee of 10% of price up to a Max of £40 + 2.7% if paid by Paypal, and of course if you are going to put a reserve on or a starting price over 99p you get hit for extras there as well.

May well still work out better than a commision sale.

Try the classifieds here or at places like rangefinderforum - will probably work out a whole lot cheaper for you (and therefore allow you to sell at a more attractive price to potential buyers).

More likely you will get a better price on the ebay - as long as you describe it well ( so that it looks like its coming from an user rather than a trader, clear description etc) and good close up photos.

Shops will pay you about 55-60% on the price they sell at ( I think the sales commission is 40%) ; plus the cost of delivering it to them...

I think its easy to check : go to Ffordes website and see the price they sell at; and take of 45%.

Go to ebay to check the completed sales prices and take off 15%.

I think the ebay number will be higher....

15% seems a decent figure, I'm sure i was hit for more when i sold bikes on there?

tried on here but little interest so maybe Ill pop it on fleabay this weekend and see how it goes

Dave, dont know if you have bought or sold on ebay. When I buy, I usually like to see the following

1. Its a user, who has recently used the camera
2. He is honest in the write up ; not bland statements like 'everything working' etc
3. Points out the negative
4. Willing to provide additional info about the camera
5. Is willing for me to pick up the camera
6. Shows some clean photographs...
7. No spelling and grammatical mistake

I have sold only once; followed the above rules, and got about 20% more than the last 4 completed listing.......

I lost a lot of money selling old kit to second hand shops because of my fear of Ebay. The last straw came when Ffordes offered me £700 for a camera that I had bought from them for £1200 6 months earlier. I got £1150 for it on Ebay (albeit through a friend who had an Ebay history) and since I have sold all my kit on Ebay. If you have a price in mind for the kit perhaps try a "Buy it Now" with "Make me an Offer" and a 30 day listing - I have nearly always got the price that I want, albeit having to wait a bit longer than with a normal auction.

BTW, we are coming up to a good time to start selling cameras - spring!

Paul, when you have to sell something interesting, can you please list it here. I am often interested in the odd cameras - especially the rangefinders

Just put my Minox 35 GT in the classified section you know ... :D

Arthur

I did notice it Arthur. Minox has passed through my hands; but somehow I kept the Rollei 35 and sold the Minox, though Minox is possible an easier camera to use.

Odd. I preferred the little Rollei (had the LED) myself, but the only person that has used this Minox recently is Nick (Raglansurf)!

I got a Rollei 35; and often wonder whether I should sell it or keep it for another decade and get a stonking big price for it in 2020....lol

Best stash some HP5 as well then...

put on evil bay last night, sold this morning!

EDIT: tenner to paypal, 30 (!!) to ebay which leaves me 235 from the 275 it sold for
