Selfies

Indeed, although as an avatar, it's almost acceptable...

Pussy, no but I can be a bit of a c*** sometimes!

Long before I posted #82.

Is it worth pointing out that most of those aren't selfies?

There's been a spate of people taking pictures on railways in the US (because different). Somebody got arrested recently for climbing down onto the subway tracks for a picture. Yes, live tracks with trains running.

Not really, because some of them are so it is appropriate to this thread.

The headline for that story on Sky News is "People 'Risking Death' For Railway Selfies" and goes on to blame half term for the recent spate of people stopping on the line for assorted reasons including selfies - the subject of this thread. (Not that Ricardo needs help!)

Complete idiots. Natural selection if they get knocked down
I saw that on FB and my comment there was, .... and this weeks Darwin award goes to ....
:D

Yes. I've noticed lazy journalists start to call perfectly normal photographs "selfies". I'm going to be running a training course soon on professional selfography ;)

This is a relatively new phenomenon and it's one that swings the outrage meter to 11.

New? New, my foot!

Selfie is just a new name for age old self-portrait, no different from a old battleship having a refit in dry dock to bring it up-to-date with modern times.

Opps

I see what you're saying, but Van Gogh wasn't knocking one out every time he went down the pub with his mates

Edit...ok, that sounds a bit dodgy!

A woman was killed in Benidorm last night having fallen from a mirador whilst taking a selfie.

The number of people taking smiley happy selfies at the 9/11 Memorial in New York left me stunned. I realise people want to take away memories with them, but considering what happened on that site the grinning selfies just felt massively wrong and plain bizarre to me.
