Why not focus manually? Loads of people suggested that... then you decide what's in focus, rather than the camera deciding.

(So if you try again tomorrow, you won't need an "assistant".)

You ned to put your camera into focus lock mode.

It's a custom function that both your cameras have I think.

Go to custum functions in the camera menu, select 04 then select option 3.

Now to take a pic, press the * button on the back of the camera to focus lock the target.

Then press the shutter and bobs your uncle.

Try this with the timer method first then with a cable release to make sure it is working.

there's a really beautiful self portrait in Digital SLR photographer this month - superb light and fab composition. It's in front of a window, with the subject wrapped in a net curtain, and it's really beautiful - all soft and out of focus, really simple, but totaly eye-catching.

Have you got a Nikon camera? a remote button for it is about £20 from Jessops and if you have a camera that focuses itself - presto!

What I really ought to do is post the pic – that’d have everyone deleting their posts/retracting kind offers etc. and running for the hills! :lol:

Digitalfailure told me, he said texttarts are the ladies in the adverts that come in on itv2 at about 11pm...
 
Don't use a stick as a focus marker, use something soft. Snow is slippy and that stick is gonna hurt - ouch :eek: :lol:

Sounds like the Polish 3-stick toilet...

First stick is to steady yourself with;

Second is for the roll of Andrexski;

and the third stick is to beat off any passing bears.
