Self build computer

I have been using OcUK since they started, not the cheapest but always deliver. They have a computer forum too.

i use only scan.co.uk and ebuyer.com (for all my builds i had in the past, also builds for my mates etc.). You could use something like pcspecialist.co.uk ( but you will lose on excitement to build it yourself :( )

Scan and novatech are good. ebuyer not so good customer service when things go wrong.

Think about building a hackintosh and dual boot between windows and mac. Guides here for specific components and different builds.

I was thinking of building one myself, thanks for the link, very useful :)

Does anyone know of a good bundle for self building a tower desktop computer? I'm looking for an interl i7 package with at least 32gb RAM. Or, a good website that can list all components needed?

thanks very much in advance!
Why do you need at least 32gb of ram? I think it's debatable whether many people need that much.

Overclockers too.

Avoid Scan - I've never had anything but terrible service from them. OCUK are excellent, and have a fantastic forum where you'll get all the advice you could want on speccing and building your new machine. I use Ebuyer as well occasionally as their pricing can be very competitive. I've not had any bad service from them.

On the opposite side of the coin I have never had anything but excellent service from Scan. Customer service has been excellent and any extra info I needed on a purchase I was provided with quickly over the phone.

Also I have used OCUK many many times, along with Ebuyer and Dabs.

I would recommend any of those companies.

Aria, Dabs, Ebuyer, Novex, overclockers, scan - they should all be good. I've been building and buying bits since about 2000 and have always come back to ebuyer, even though I've occasionally used the others when they had specials for things I needed.

eBuyer good for delivery but a bit unhelpful with customer service and sales, on at least two occasions.

Scan have been the total opposite.

Overclockers - I made a recommendation on their forum for a product ideally suited to the OPs use case and included some links. Their moderation was rather heavy handed to say the least. The moderators cited linking to a competitors website as their reason for censorship, even though the alternate supplier was catering to a niche and in no sense a competitor.

TO be fair to OCUK, it has always been their rules as long as I have been a member, since the early 2000's that you cannot link to anyone other company that sells computer parts of any kind. Its all in the rules.

TBH I felt the intepretation of that rule in this instance was draconian. The OC forum is there for the benefit of OC, not it's members.

The OP wanted a mobo for a firewall/router and at that time there wasn't anything ideally suited available from OC themselves.

The mods can be very heavy-handed sometimes. It's one aspect I am not at all keen on.

I get all my bits from cclonline . I do live/work quite close to them though , they've always been helpful to me .
