Could someone please explain the best way to do selective colouring on two parts of an image? I know how to do selective colouring but only on one part, I was just wondering if it can all be done on the one copy of the original, or do I make two copies select individual parts on each copy and then merge those two images together
Thanks in advance :D

what photohop version are you using?

that youtube video is OK, but too namby pamby detailed with opacity fiddling etc. If you are a newbie to selective colouring, then its too much fiddling about.

If you want to do a basic quick selective colouring for beginners this is much easier.

I'm assuming this for anyone with CS4:

1: Open image.
2: Select Layers >duplicate layers and click OK to save as background copy.
3: select Image > adjustment >desaturate (pic now turns black and white)
4: Select the eraser tool and colour away the bits you want you want to colour.
5: If there are any particular parts of a pic you want to colour then use the quick selection tool.

Obviously, this is a beginners quide, so if you are not a beginner, then it might be too basic. But is it the easiest way I've found.

Bizarre... I watched the you tube one having never done it before and yet got out of it exactly what onikami has just posted... except I haven't the patience to write out instruction!

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by 2 parts of an image but maybe this will work for you.

Make image black and white then use the history brush to bring back the color where you want it. You can do small sections at a time so that if you make a error just delete that last brush strokes using the history then proceed again...
