Selective colour... so last decade, but

I don't mind it...done well, it still looks good to my eye. An overused and abused technique, certainly, but theres still a use for it imo.

So...out of interest...whats really cutting edge right now in photography style? What are you doing that's bang on trend?

Examples, btw, let's see it, money where your mouth is!

IMO - it's those grays, browns and muted tones. Add a bit of very cool vector work and your going to be fresh. I can't do it yet, but trying so very hard to nail it (the vector part).

Gary.

Just a quick thought - those of you that like selective colouring and use it, how many of you are making reasonable sales (for a ball park, let's say £3k-£4k per month) from this kind of technique with paying clients? I don't have many clients ask before a shoot to have this kind of effect, and I never have anyone asking for it when they are viewing their images that they have fallen in love with after the shoot.

3-4k just on selective colouring sales is reasonable?

Holy cow, that seems like a huge amount of money to make on one style of photo sales

LOL, that's about my entire month's sales let alone just selective colour.

For me this is an easy one... this is the first image ever (which is why I asked the original question), maybe the last. But if it ever comes up again, my view is still the same ;)

This is where it's at, I wouldn't diss it just yet!

I think in some photos it can work well, but I personally don't use it for my shots.

If I had a customer come and ask for it then I really couldn't see the problem, as long as I think it would make the image look terrible that is!
