I've managed to get myself confused - not surprising these days :cuckoo:

I was darkening the petals on a white flower to make them stand out more, and was using the burn tool.

But for the life of me I couldn't work out how to apply selective enhancement, increased colour vibrance to the same location

I can do it generally to the photo, but cant suss this one bit out

Help please

Hi, If I understand your question correctly this might be the answer.

Try making a selection with either the the Quick Selection Tool or the Magnetic Lasso Tool and then apply your adjustments.

Hope this helps.

Create an adjustment layer for saturation, globally bump up the saturation via the adjustment layer, click on the layer mask that the adjustment layer is linked to, fill that with black to mask the saturated colours, select the brush tool, set the brush hardness to zero, use whatever brush size you like, set the foreground colour swatch to white, then paint over the areas of the image you want to be more saturated. Using adjustment layers and masks is better than working directly on your image - you can use them for more than just saturation adjustments and its a non-destructive method of retouching.
