Selecting images to transfer from camera to phone

I have a Nikon D500 and regularly do news photography. Time is a major factor so I need to shoot, process, annotate and upload as soon as I can. I have a workflow that works, but it's messy and I'm always trying to improve it. I've looked at Snapbridge again today, hoping that my previous attempts at using it were just me having bad days! I am finding it impossible though, it simply doesn't do what I need. The main problem I have is with selecting the images I want transferred to my phone (Android). I use an OTG cable, and the only importer of any use seems to be the "Camera Importer" that's part of Google Photos. However, that does not show filenames and has no obvious option to sort the images displayed. So I have to select and transfer all images (I see a preview but often can't tell the image version from that), then delete what I don't want in another app. That's more time transferring and an extra step to delete the RAW files, plus I sometimes have more than one JPG version and have sent off 2 versions of the same image to my agency by mistake.

What I'd like to do is choose the images I want to transfer to my phone. I could give them a rating on my camera, select a group of them on-camera, move selected ones to another memory card folder (if I can find a way to only transfer those), or select them in a different camera importer app - Whichever works would be fine! There must be a way to do this basic task? I'd also like to do other streamlining with my workflow, but I'll save that for another time. :)

Geoff.

Sorry, wrong thread!

Actually, all I do is connect the OTG card reader to my Galaxy phone, go to the USB DRIVE icon then I can choose any file to transfer. I can also make new folders in Gallery. Can you not do this?

I don't use an OTG card reader, I just connect directly to my camera. I can make new folders on my phone, but I want to put aside images on my camera so I only transfer the ones I want to use. Often I end up with several versions on the camera but would like to only transfer one of them. It's just to save a bit of time. If I could just sort by filenames in the camera importer, I would be fine. One of the problems is that I'm always rushing and then I make mistakes, and that's really the main problem. I think if I thought about it more and slowed down, it would help me! My workflow otherwise is quite streamlined.

Thanks for the reply.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm not looking to spend more money on hardware, just a small amount for an app. I may look at that type of device in future, but I can't justify the cost at the moment.

Cheers,
Geoff.
As you state time is of the essence with news photography in getting from shutter release to on the editors desk what does each minute equate to in financial terms.

With certain sports the quicker you get from the moment captured to publication the more enhanced the reputation (along with other things) and likelihood of future commissions.

I use Case Air to transfer RAW files to a retina display IPad and edit in LR mobile.

I am not sure that the 3 1/2" screen of a camera with 24+MPx really is that great an image choosing tool, but then again it might be for Newworthy images
