When I use Import Images From Device in Lightroom, do I have to download everything that's on the card in my camera or can I choose which images I want to download?

Any help at all would be most appreciated.

Mike

I think you can just select the ones you want by putting a tick in the image box top left

Correct - UNtick the ones you do NOT want to import. Or import all and delete afterwards.

Thanks for the help, much appreciated.

As with Julian, I'm learning all the time.

Here's a tip for deleting the duds from within Lightroom.

In the library module display the first image in your shoot in Loupe Mode by double-clicking on it in Grid Mode. Now make sure that 'Caps Lock' is set to on. Now decide if the picture you're looking at is one you want to keep, delete or you're not sure about. For the keepers press 'P', for the duds press 'X' and for the others press 'U'. As soon as you press one of those LR will flag the image and move on to the next one.

Once you've gone through all of the images go back to Grid Mode (double-click the image, or press 'G') and press 'Ctrl' and 'Backspace'. LR will now give you the option of either removing the rejected images from the catalog or deleting them from the disk.

Once you've done that you can go back to the 'U' images and repeat the process, or you can start editing your 'P' images. It really is very fast once you've got into the swing.
