Right buying a light meter in December. I was all set to buy the 308 but looking at the reviews etc and it would appear that the 308 does not have an aperture mode setting only a shutter speed setting. Does this really cause a problem?? Should I buy the 358 which does have an aperture mode setting or does it not matter.

Thanks in anticipation......

What are you going to be using it for? I've got a 308 and have no problems with it prioritising the shutter speed. All it is doing is giving you an exposure value of sorts. Once it has measured you press the up and down buttons until it gives you the aperture/shutter speed you were after. Perhaps not as quick as having an aperture priority but we're talking about a couple of seconds to get the info you want.

The reason I'd buy the 358 over a 308 if I was buying again would be for the spot meter.

Yes. When I used the 308 I saw that you could do that and it seems to do what I want. The only reason I asked was because I haven't yet bought either so didn't want to buy one only to find that I should have bought the other one!

Looks like I will get the 308
